un paseo por el suroeste europa  ◊  a photo exhibit

Julie developed a passion for photography and travel while studying in London, England in 1985.  Since that time, this passion has taken her off American soil time and again, camera in hand.  For many years, Julie had been creating greeting cards for friends and family out of her travel photography.  When she stumbled upon an opportunity to visit Spain for an extended period of time, she purchased a digital camera and moved to Seville.  This trip to Europe in 2003 produced a wealth of photos, and inspired Julie to market her work to the public.

While in Spain, Julie took every opportunity available to explore other parts of her new corner of the world.  She visited many parts of Southern Spain, including Granada, Ronda, and Cadiz and touched upon the southern coastal village of Tavira in Portugal.  She traveled to the metropolitan cities of Rome and Florence, as well as the smaller hill-towns of Siena and San Gimingnano in Tuscany, Italy. She ventured to the Greek Island of Crete, and various parts of Morocco, North Africa, including Fez.  She also made her long awaited return to London, England, before returning home to Boston.  This collection represents the color, architecture and culture of lands afar that captured her eye and her heart.

Since her return to the states, Julie has relocated from the East Coast to Phoenix, AZ.  Last year she began to exhibit her photos, showing at local street fairs and debuting at Downtown Phoenix’s First Friday Art Walk last September.  Last Fall two of Julie’s pieces were selected for auction - one for Zoofari, an annual event benefiting The Phoenix Zoo and the other for the Make-A-Difference organization’s annual Hearts and Hands benefit.   This exhibit at Steve’s Espresso in Tempe marks the beginning of a series of exhibits for Julie this Fall.
